joined a lawsuit filed in Washington challenging the termination of grants to train mental health professionals. The Mental Health Service Professional Demonstration Grant Program funds innovative partnerships that train mental health professionals to address youth mental health in schools. Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó’s Project Aspire received more than $3 million to fund scholarships and stipends for school psychologists in training. Without federal funding, Project ASPIRE will end in December 2025.
Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó’s mission is to serve our students with an excellent education—one that prepares them for the future through hands-on, practical experiences in the fields they study. These experiences ensure they are workforce ready from day-one.
As an urban research university, Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó also plays a vital role in strengthening the health and safety of our community while also fueling our local economy through workforce development and the research and innovation developed on campus.
The National Science Foundation (NSF) provides essential grant funding that advances research and directly impacts our students’ educational experience. In fiscal year 2024, Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó received $3.17 million in funding from the NSF, including $870,600 in indirect costs that support our research infrastructure.
The funding Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó receives from NSF accelerates critical, high-impact research in areas like artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and scientific computing, electric grid engineering, and radio frequency sensing—fields with implications for national security, public health, and everyday life. Without this critical investment, our ability to train the next generation of scientists and engineers in Colorado—and contribute to the well-being of our communities—will be compromised.
The University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus values our international students, scholars, and employees and how they enrich our community. We are aware that some students and exchange visitors across the nation have had their visas revoked unexpectedly. We understand the anxiety these actions may cause for those directly impacted and their families as well as our international community.
Our Office of International Affairs assists international students, scholars and employees, but the university does not make visa decisions, and we do not have information related to those decisions. Should an international student, scholar or employee be notified of a visa revocation, they should immediately contact International Student and Scholar Services and their respective Embassy.
