Play Ball! ICB Students Cheer for the Colorado Rockies

On September 2nd, ICB students in Denver cheered one of their new favorite baseball teams, the Colorado Rockies, at Coors Field. The ICB students joined fellow classmates from around the world for this international student event, one of many free activities organized for students by the Office of International Affairs.

“When the players gave a nice shot, the ICB students applauded along with the rest of the audience,” said Runke (Jade) Li. The group enjoyed local cuisine and achieved a deeper understanding of American baseball culture. Several students became fans of Charlie Blackmon, player number 19, and now wear souvenir caps they purchased at the stadium gift shop. “We agreed to bring more ICB students to watch future games!”

Li is a senior ICB student who is majoring in communication and minoring in film & television. She explained that she is “interested in recording lives with photos and videos” and hopes to become a filmmaker in the future

Teams in the Office of International, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó look forward to greeting students each semester and help them get settled on campus. Resources for pre-arrival planning about air travel, ground transportation to campus, housing, dining, cell phones, banking, and wellness are all available.

International students are also welcomed to campus with parties and activities to start their educational experience on a high note – games, meet-and- greet socializing events with other students, faculty, and staff, delicious international cuisine, and exciting indoor and outdoor events year-round, all in an atmosphere of pure Colorado fun.

The OIA team meets individually with each student to help them with immigration questions, academic advice, and ways to have positive cultural and educational experiences; we support them as they navigate through their first year, as well as throughout all of their semesters at Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó | CU Anschutz—and beyond.”
