Get to Know the Loan Library

Join us for this webinar to learn more about the AT Loan Library! In an effort to support the assessment and implementation of Assistive Technology (AT) devices and/or services in Early Intervention and Colorado public schools, the SWAAAC and Tech for Tykes programs maintain a library of equipment and resources available through Colorado school-district Team Coordinators and Early Intervention AT Consultants. Communication devices, switches, adapted curriculum, assessment tools, reference books, assistive listening devices, adapted arts and so much more… high-tech to low-tech. Let’s talk about how to use the online library to find items, make requests, and receive and return items using the library courier system.

The StateWide Assistive Technology Augmentative & Alternative Communication (SWAAAC) Program is funded by the Colorado Department of Education to support providers of assistive technology services in Colorado Public Schools. Anyone who works with students with disabilities in a K12 Colorado Public School, may benefit from learning about the resources that SWAAAC offers, including:

  • Free professional development opportunities
  • An assistive technology loan library with over 2,400 items
  • Consultation and technical assistance

AAC All Day: Supporting Communication for Students with Complex Needs

This presentation will introduce a classroom-based model created specifically to help school team members support students with complex communication needs.  Participants will learn how to assess current communication skills, identify needs, select appropriate goals for the academic environment, recognize AAC implementation opportunities, and track progress over time.

  • Participants will identify and assess current communication skills for students with complex needs.
  • Participants will explore practical ways to increase communication, participation, and learning through AAC implementation planning.
  • Participants will describe key components needed to create a positive communication environment that supports learning and participation.

The Center for Innovative Design and Engineering (CIDE) is proud to present the fourth annual Colorado Assistive Technology Expo - a FREE, one-day, in-person event featuring over 30 assistive technology (AT) vendors to provide opportunities for networking, collaboration, and hands-on learning. Come experience new tools, products, and features to increase independence for all.

Make & Take Workshop at The Colorado Assistive Technology Expo

Mounting Assistive Technology to Wheelchairs

People who use wheelchairs may also use assistive technologies (AT) such as speech generating devices (SGDs), computers, tablets, and smartphones. This session will present mounting options for each of these technologies to secure the device to the wheelchair frame for optimal visual regard, access, safety, and security. Course content will include mounting terminology; role delineation for product recommendation, ordering, and delivery; determining optimal mount placement; ordering help; and funding. Optimal device placement through mounting can facilitate assistive technology use and subsequent client functioning.
