Enrollment Requirements For F-1 & J-1 Students

As an F-1 or J-1 student you may NOT take ONLY online classes at �����ջ� | Anschutz.  It is required that you maintain full-time status through a minimum number of credit hours, and of those credit hours you are required to enroll in a certain number of in-person or hybrid classes. See below rules for the individual semester requirements.

Fall/Spring Semester Requirements

All F-1 and J-1 international students must be enrolled full-time at �����ջ� during the Fall and Spring semesters. For additional information on how to maintain status, please see our page on . Students in their last semester may apply for a  if fewer credits are required to graduate. Review the information above on your requirements.

Fall/Spring Minimum Credit Hour Requirement

Undergraduate Enrollment Requirement:

• 12+ Credit Hours
  Of the 12 credit hours, 9+ must be in-person or hybrid.

Graduate Enrollment Requirement:

• 5+ Credit Hours
  Of the 5 credit hours, 3+ must be in-person or hybrid.

Summer Minimum Credit Hour Requirement for first and last-semester students

Summer semester is not a required semester unless it is your first semester at �����ջ� | Anschutz on an I-20 or DS-2019. If you are a continuing student, you are not required to enroll in summer. IF you enroll in your first or last semester at �����ջ� | Anschutz, you must follow the rules below.

Undergraduate Enrollment Requirement:

• 6+ Credit Hours
  Of the 6 credit hours, 3+ must be in-person or hybrid.

Graduate Enrollment Requirement:

• 3+ Credit Hours
  Of the 3 credit hours, 3+ must be in-person or hybrid.

Enrollment Exceptions for Dissertation students

IF you are a PhD student enrolled in Dissertation credit as determined by the university catalog, any number of dissertation credits are counted as full-time for immigration purposes. Enrollment is still required to maintain your immigration status, but any number of dissertation credit enrollment will meet the requirements
