Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó | Anschutz offers over 30 during Winter, Maymester, and Summer terms each year. These programs range from two to four weeks in duration, and from two to six credits. These programs are Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó | Anschutz courses, taught by Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó | Anschutz faculty, and all take place in another country. The credits earned fall under a predetermined Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó | Anschutz course number, so there is no need to worry about transfer of credit. Program availability varies from year to year.
Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó offers two : Bridging Global Divides in Berlin and Semester in Beijing. The Bridging Global Divides program in Berlin offers up to 15 credit hours of courses from both CLAS & SPA. Courses change each semester but can include PSCI, SOCY, HIST, PUAD, or CRJU. Students who participate in Semester in Beijing choose their classes from a list of pre-approved courses including Communication, Economics, English, Political Science, Math, Philosophy, etc.

Students may also study abroad on non-Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó programs offered by study abroad companies, commonly known as “third-party providers.” Third-party providers boast programs all over the world, for every major, and for varying lengths of time (two weeks to a full academic year). Students studying on third-party programs are required to in the Office of Global Education (OGE) to discuss the process before submitting an application. Note that students will have to submit two applications for third-party programs: the Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó study abroad application and the specific third-party provider’s application on their website. To ensure the transfer of study abroad credits back to Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó, OGE will facilitate the course approval process alongside students’ academic advisors prior to students’ departure.

OGE has invested significant resources to offer a wide range of study abroad offerings that reflect the diversity of our students' interests and meet their academic needs. If a student feels strongly about participating on a non-Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó study abroad program that is not on the university's list of affiliate or approved programs, they must complete a “Petition for Non-Approved Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó Study Abroad Programs.” This option is available only to students who meet the Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó study abroad eligibility requirements and have a specific, clearly articulated academic need that cannot be met by any existing Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó study abroad offerings. Some students pursue international academic opportunities that do not fall into the above-mentioned categories of study abroad. These additional opportunities might include research abroad, conferences, field work, international language schools, and clinical rotations for graduate students in the medical fields.
All students going abroad for academic purposes must register with the Office of Global Education. In doing so, we can provide important health and safety resources such as international health insurance, safety workshops, and more.​ If you are planning on pursuing this option, please email study.abroad@ucdenver.edu and indicate the following: name, school/college, country and intended dates of travel, purpose of travel. Each school/college may require additional steps for international travel, above and beyond the Global Education application.
Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers fellowships abroad for one academic year to graduating college seniors, graduate students, young professionals, scientists and artists. Program participants pursue graduate or professional study, advanced research, or English teaching in elementary and secondary schools or universities. Each year, approximately 1,600 Americans traveling to more than 140 countries receive support from the Fulbright U.S. Student Program.
The Boren Awards are scholarships of up to $25,000 for undergraduates and up to $30,000 for graduate fellowships for U.S. citizens who are planning to study a foreign language in an eligible world region. Boren Scholars and Fellows from diverse fields of study immerse themselves in the cultures in world regions critical to U.S. interests and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East. Boren Award recipients also make a commitment to work in the U.S. federal government for a minimum of one year and are eligible for exclusive opportunities and preferential consideration for jobs in the federal government. For consideration, students must be matriculated in an undergraduate or graduate degree program or applying to graduate school and must be non-citizens of the destination location.
